ALEXIS MASON

Alexis Mason is an emerging ceramic artist living and working on Kaurna Country in Tarntanya (Adelaide). Working across wheel-throwing and hand-building, she creates functional and sculptural vessels. Informed by art, science, and the natural world, her practice considers connection, material agency, and the dialogue between form and environment.

Working primarily with clay, she constructs forms through repeated gestures and simple motifs. As these elements accumulate, structures expand and complexity emerges from what was once singular. Reflecting the logic of organic systems, the work evolves through repetition and subtle variation, allowing relationships between forms to develop over time.

Rather than representing the natural world, her practice follows its behaviour, exploring how meaning can arise through the interaction of forms and the agency of materials.
